CARE & PRESERVATION
Care for the exceptional.
Plan every detail.
A thoughtful ownership routine connects presentation, storage, servicing and security. Start with the car’s own requirements and put the right people around them.
THE OWNERSHIP ROUTINE
A care plan with a clear purpose.

Know the car you are caring for.
The same broad ownership questions arise across hypercars, but the answers are vehicle-specific. Begin with the exact model, build year, market specification and current owner documentation. Confirm which equipment and accessories belong with it and which specialist is responsible for questions about its condition.
For a newly acquired car, use the handover to establish what is known and what still needs checking. A previous owner’s routine may be useful background; the current manufacturer guidance and the actual car should determine the plan you adopt.
Preserve the finish with a defined brief.
Tell the detailing specialist about the surfaces on the car, including paint finish, exposed carbon, protection film and interior materials. Ask for a written scope that distinguishes routine cleaning from corrective or restorative work.
Agree how the car will be inspected before work and how the team will contact you if something falls outside the original brief. Product selection and cleaning methods should be appropriate to the finish and any relevant manufacturer or film-supplier instructions. We do not prescribe one chemical or wash method for every hypercar.
Make battery support model-specific.
Ask the vehicle’s retailer to confirm the correct equipment and procedure for any period of inactivity. Record who is responsible for following that instruction and what should happen if an alert or unexpected condition appears.
Hybrid hypercars can have distinct electrical systems with different requirements. The McLaren Speedtail supplement, for example, separates its 12V and high-voltage charging arrangements. That example should prompt a precise question about your own car, not a general charging instruction. Do not attempt high-voltage work or improvise charging connections.
Keep the storage arrangement understandable.
Agree who has custody, who can authorise movement and who can approve work. A good storage brief includes the proposed period away, contact arrangements, appropriate access for appointments and a process for recording observations.
Ask how the facility’s own care process relates to the manufacturer’s vehicle requirements. A storage company, a mechanical service team, a detailer and a vehicle security installer offer different expertise. The owner should be able to identify the responsible contact for each part of the arrangement.
Remember the next journey.
Plan the return handover when the car enters storage. Ask the appropriate specialist about checks required before use, the maintenance position and any tyre questions. Use the manufacturer’s specified tyre pressures, with the correct understanding of cold and warm readings.
If the car is due to travel by transporter, let the storage team, owner and transport provider agree the collection details in advance. Loading, securing and any recovery arrangements need expertise in the actual car; they are not tasks to improvise from a general article.
Include security in the ownership record.
Trackers and additional authorisation systems have their own ownership considerations. Keep an understandable record of the relevant provider, authorised contacts, subscriptions and support routes. Agree how service and transport handovers are handled for the installed equipment.
Autosecureshop can discuss the vehicle security part of this picture. We work alongside owners, dealers and collector-car storage partners to plan suitable installation appointments and explain the relevant owner routine. Product suitability is assessed individually; a care guide is not a fitment guarantee.

Start with authoritative information.
Manufacturer guidance takes priority for your vehicle. See the McLaren owner manual portal, the model-specific Speedtail supplement and Michelin’s tyre inflation guidance for the points discussed above. For other makes, request the correct documentation from the manufacturer or its retailer.
This page provides an ownership planning framework. It is not a mechanical inspection, servicing, electrical or detailing procedure.
