Ask your insurer or broker to state the required tracking or security equipment in writing, including the category, subscription requirements, completion deadline and evidence they expect. Keep this with your quotation and installation paperwork.

Do not infer acceptance from a product name or a category advertised elsewhere. Your policy and the specific proposed equipment need to align.

Note any planned dealer visit, storage move, transporter collection or overseas journey. Discuss these when agreeing the installation and handover. Ask the relevant provider what you must do before transport or servicing.

A change of keeper or existing tracker can require account changes. Check this early rather than assuming an app login means a service is active in your name.

Ask about subscriptions, renewal dates, additional drivers, replacement devices, support and the procedure if you suspect a theft. Request a demonstration and keep recovery information securely.

For a stored car, follow the vehicle manufacturer’s battery and maintenance guidance and discuss any relevant tracker requirements with the provider. Do not assume any security system can operate indefinitely without power or connectivity.
